Care recommendation
Grape plants can be grown on any type of soil, but do not tolerate moist soil.
In order to make the grape bush a strong plant, it is important to prune each year. You do that in summer and in winter. During the summer cutting you prune small, young shoots that have grown on the largest woody branches of the plant. You tape the strongest off along your pergola, fence or wall up or to the side.
In winter, cut back the branches. Cut the woody branches diagonally to just above the buds. Keep only the strongest young shoots that have grown on the woody main branches of your plant this year. Prune the rest of the shoots. Do not completely trim the remaining offshoots, but cut them so that there are 2 to 3 buds on each offshoot.
